Biography

John Hunt left the Army to become the first Director of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. He was made a life peer in 1966 and gazetted as Baron Hunt of Llanfair Waterdine in Shropshire. Appointed the first chairman of the Parole Board and his advisory work on policing in Northern Ireland led to the Hunt Report. Appointed to the Royal Commission on the Press in 1974 and created a Knight of the Garter in 1979. He died aged 88 in 1998.
